Newark, NJ (February 25, 2025) – Panasonic proudly unveils the LUMIX S1RII, the latest addition to the full-frame mirrorless LUMIX S Series, designed to push the boundaries of imaging technology.
The LUMIX S1RII is equipped with a newly developed 44.3MP BSI CMOS sensor and a powerful L² technology-driven engine, delivering breathtaking stills and videos with LUMIX’s signature natural color rendering. With its innovative High-Resolution Mode, users can capture handheld images at approximately 177MP, revealing stunning levels of detail. The camera’s advanced video capabilities make it the first LUMIX model to support 8K video recording with 14+ stops of dynamic range, unlocking new creative opportunities for filmmakers. The enhanced Open Gate feature now allows 6.4K recording, with upcoming firmware updates adding 8.1K/7.2K support.
For the first time in the LUMIX S Series, the S1RII enables internal 5.8K Apple ProRes RAW HQ/ProRes RAW recording on CFexpress Type B cards, eliminating the need for external devices and enhancing flexibility for solo shooters and on-the-go filmmaking.
The advanced real-time recognition phase hybrid AF, now powered by AI tracking, ensures precise and rapid detection of human eyes and faces, enabling smooth subject tracking. The camera supports high-speed continuous shooting at up to 40 fps with AF tracking, making it easy to capture fast-moving subjects with accuracy. Additionally, the SH Pre-Burst Mode records images even before the shutter is fully pressed, ensuring no critical moment is missed.
Panasonic continues to refine its renowned image stabilization system. The LUMIX S1RII features 8.0-stop in-body stabilization and Dual I.S. 2, providing up to 7.0 stops of correction, even at telephoto focal lengths. Enhanced video stabilization includes crop-less EIS distortion correction, preserving the original field of view while minimizing peripheral distortion, making handheld wide-angle shooting more precise. The compact, redesigned body and tilting free-angle monitor offer greater flexibility, catering to a wide range of shooting styles.
The LUMIX S1RII integrates seamlessly with the “LUMIX Lab” smartphone application, enabling direct LUT uploads for streamlined post-production workflows. Additionally, the forthcoming “LUMIX Flow” app will enhance production processes by offering features such as storyboarding, shot organization, and file management. The camera also supports third-party software like Frame.io, optimizing post-production and collaboration.
For the first time in LUMIX history, the S1RII offers Capture One tethering support, providing essential tools for professional studio photographers and diverse production environments.
Committed to the philosophy of empowering creativity through technology, the LUMIX S1RII stands as a next-generation mirrorless camera for creators who aim to bring their artistic vision to life.
